Barbara Sipos Artist Statement
For me, art is an expression of joy and freedom. Joy derived from the beauty of God’s creations, celestial and terrestrial. I find joy in visions of supernovae in space, auroras in our atmosphere, and colorful scenes around me. I paint with reverence and respect for what I see and feel in God’s creation. As a self taught artist and photographer, I am excited and inspired by all God brings into my corner of the world. My art is available to others so we can share the delights of the universe.
I especially find pleasure in children and animals, including pets, each discovers the world from an innocent perspective, and each delights in the life’s amusements, a quality I hope to keep forever. I have chosen the Green Rabbit as my logo. He is unique, inquisitive, playful, and full of himself. He came to me in my imagination as do many of my works.
Biography
Barbara Sipos is a self taught watercolor artist and photographer. She is a retired wife, mother and grandmother, living with her husband in Westminster, Colorado. As a child, Barbara learned to paint and “make” things from doll clothes to tree houses. Her mother was an amateur artist who encouraged Barbara and her sister to be expressive and creative.
Her childhood was filled with reverence for life and the wonder of God’s creation. Barbara married her first husband at the young age of 19 years. Life became busy. Barbara and her husband completed their education, both became teachers. Their family grew from 2 to 5. Barbara and her husband were blessed with a son and two daughters. When her children were young, Barbara encouraged them to learn, be creative, and enjoy life. But she had little time to pursue her desire to paint.
When her children were in high school, Barbara’s husband was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Now as the head of the household, she devoted herself to completing the job of raising her children and providing for their education. During this period, Barbara experienced the tragic untimely death of her mother – this was another monumental loss for the entire family.
As time passed, Barbara’s children completed their education. After 10 years of being a widow, Barbara married a wonderful, kind and supportive man – Marty.
Now retired, Barbara is enjoying her family and the time to pursue her interests, two of which are water color painting and photography. She started to paint with watercolor a few years ago just for fun and to relax and express. Family and friends have encouraged her to share her art and photos with others. So enjoy.
About the Green Rabbit Art
Green Rabbit Art was founded by Barbara Sipos with her husband, Marty, to share her paintings and other artistic creations in order to bring joy to others. As the paintings have evolved, so has Green Rabbit Art. In addition to original paintings, we now offer limited editions of signed Giclée prints, and digitally printed postcards of many of the paintings. In addition, we will soon publish a wordless picture book for children and their parents, called Meet Daisy.
